ISPO RECOGNIZED TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMMES IN PROSTHETICS AND ORTHOTICS
Category-I, Prosthetist-Orthotist
- University based degree programme of 3 years duration, followed by 1 year supervised clinical placement;
- Intake criteria: university entry level, or Category-II graduate.
Category-II, Orthopaedic Technologist
- Formal, structured diploma programme of 3 years duration, followed by 1 year supervised clinical placement;
- Intake criteria: "O"-level or equivalent as normally required for paramedical education in developing countries.
- Modular Training: having completed the three single discipline programmes mentioned below.
- Modular Upgrading: provided for practitioners fulfilling entry requirements for Category-II with more than 5 years clinical practice. Contain the 3 modules described below.
Category-II, Single Discipline Technologist
- Formal, structured certificate programme of 1 years duration followed by 6 months supervised clinical placement in any of the entities mentioned below;
- Intake criteria: normal Category-II requirements
- LLPT: Lower Limb Prosthetics Technologist
- LLOT: Lower Limb Orthotics Technologist
- Sp-UL: Spine and Upper Limb Orthopaedic Technologist
