ISPO and Otto Bock sign MOU to collaborate in promoting global professional education

E-mail Print PDF

In an effort to further promote professional P&O education and recognizing the importance and relevance of improving and developing the quality of education worldwide, Otto Bock Healthcare GmbH CEO, Professor Hans Georg Näder and ISPO President Dan Blocka met in Leipzig during ISPO’s 2010 World Congress to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to indicate their long term mutual commitment to  the following principles:

-      Highly qualified personnel are necessary to provide the most effective treatment for people with neuromuscular disorders that result in impairment in mobility and independence. Education, which is the foundation for the competency of these professionals, contributes to long-term rehabilitation success.

-      International standards provide guidelines to support the goal of advancing education. ISPO’s Category I and Category II profiles should be developed further to establish a continuum of educational possibilities within the field.

-      Education should be an open process. In that spirit, ISPO invites additional partners who share this vision to support, promote and participate in this initiative.

Watch this space to learn more about the concrete plans in pursuit of these principles and collaborations between industry and ISPO in advancing the training of P&O professionals worldwide.
