In the margins of the ISPO World Congress 2013 that took place in Hyderabad (India) on 4-7 February, ISPO South Africa, ISPO Mexico and ISPO Turkey were given the opportunity to make a presentation to the ISPO International Executive Board following their bids to host the ISPO World Congress in 2017 in Cape Town (South Africa), Guadalajara (Mexico) and Istanbul (Turkey), the three pre-selected destinations.
The Executive Board deliberated on the pros and cons of holding the event in the three countries, and has selected Cape Town to host the ISPO World Congress in 2017 (8-11 May). This will be the first time that the ISPO World Congress will be held on the African continent. The event will be organized in close coordination with other related organizations from the region, such as the Fédération Africaine des Techniciens Orthoprothésistes (African Federation of Orthopaedic Technicians, FATO).
ISPO International would like to hereby thank all the Member Societies for their efforts and for the energy they have put into the bid proposals and presentations.
We congratulate ISPO South Africa for this achievement and look forward to working on the ISPO World Congress 2017!
