BIENNIUM REPORT 2021-2023 24 What does ISPO represent for you? ISPO represents the global community of multidisciplinary professionals contributing to elevating the quality and accessibility of Orthotics and Prosthetics care. How does your committee contribute to ISPO’s mission and vision? The ISPO Scientific Committee is responsible for all matters of ISPO relating to science (research, development, and knowledge translation). In particular, it strengthens ISPO’s contribution to the creation and dissemination of science in P&O; oversees the scientific activities of the Society as directed by the Executive Board; makes recommendations to the Executive Board about the scientific policy of ISPO. What were the main objectives and goals of the committee during the biennium? The primary objectives of the ISPO Scientific Committee were to advance projects related to scientific dissemination, mentorship training, and elevating transparency of the Committee activities. What were the major activities and projects undertaken by the committee during this period? 1. Developing the ISPO Dictionary including a comprehensive set of O&P-related terms and associated definitions. 2. Engaging with doctoral training centres in O&P. 3. Defining ISPO special interest groups. 4. Developing and scheduling ISPO webinars on science and research topics. 5. Enhancing the ISPO research mentorship programme. 6. Developing a list of O&P research priorities from ISPO stakeholder input. 7. Contributing to product safety and testing standardisation policies. How does the committee use the new ISPO Community? We use the ISPO Community for disseminating outcome deliverables. Saeed is the chair of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) Scientific Committee, he is a renowned expert in the field of prosthetics, with over 44 years of experience. He is responsible for the creation of numerous groundbreaking prosthetic products, including the world’s first fully integrated limb system, Linx, and the first Intelligent Prosthesis. Scientific & Research Committee Saeed Zahedi – Chair, Scientific & Research Committee What was the main challenge/s faced by the committee during the biennium and how were they addressed? We are seeking to enhance representation of our committee and have inducted new members. What lessons were learned during the biennium that can inform future activities and projects for members? ISPO members are seeking additional ways to be connected and support multidisciplinary collaboration. What’s your outlook/committee outlook for the next biennium? The ISPO Scientific Committee will continue to go from strength to strength.
