Biennium report 2023
BIENNIUM REPORT 2021-2023 32 What do your members expected from ISPO International? This is something that we should delve into going forward in the next biennium, because we do not have a clear picture of this. For now, we assume that they appreciate the scientific journal and the newsletter that is provided by ISPO international. What have been your Member Society’s main challenges and drawbacks this biennium? The main challenge this biennium was the fact that we were not able to organise in-person events for the first part of this biennium. One of our main pillars is strengthening existing and creating new networks which is harder to achieve in a digital environment. However, we were able to organise several well- attended events but look forward to the next biennium where we, hopefully, can organise in person events again. How did the society support professional development for its members during the biennium? We have organised webinars based on new developments in the Netherlands and the introduction of the new multidisciplinary guideline. Furthermore, we organized a 4-day course on amputation and prosthetics of the lower extremity for teams. How did/does your member society contribute to the following: P&O Day, and ISPO World Congress? We did not substantially contribute to P&O Day other than that we highlighted this on our social media platforms. We contributed to the ISPO World Congress by applying for accreditation. This means that specialists in rehabilitation medicine will receive points for the registration in their quality system when attending the World Congress. What is the society’s plan for the future, and how does it intend to continue serving its members and advancing ISPO’s mission? We will continue organising webinars, conferences, and courses to advance ISPO’s mission. In the coming years, we intend to increase the number of online webinars to increase the exchange of new knowledge. Furthermore, we intend to increase the representation of ISPO Netherlands within the committees of ISPO International. Turkey What does being part of ISPO mean for your member society? ISPO means that we can be part of international collaboration in prosthetic orthotics. What were your main objectives and goals as a member society during the biennium? Our main objects were achieving the standard in P&O training, production, implementation, and rehabilitation, and ensuring quality in P&O services. How has the membership base of the society changed during the biennium, and what strategies have been implemented to attract and retain members? Along with the fallout from the pandemic and the inflation in the economy that developed over the last two years, the earthquake we experienced in our country recently has had a negative impact. What do your members expected from ISPO International? Our members expect: • Accreditation of Turkish P&O training. • Contribution to the improvement of P&O education. • Contribution to the improvement of P&O service quality. What have been your Member Society’s main challenges and drawbacks this biennium? As mentioned previously, the coronavirus pandemic, economic situation and natural disasters in Turkey have had a negative impact on our work.
