DESCRIPTION:Theme: \nFrom Local Roots to Global Reach: Building Educational Bridges\nThe fifth Global Educators Meeting (GEM) brought together prosthetics and orthotics educators\, researchers\, institutions\, and professional organizations from around the world. Hosted by Mahidol University in Bangkok\, Thailand\, GEM 2026 provided a platform for sharing educational innovations\, strengthening collaborations\, and advancing excellence in P&O education. \nParticipants gathered in an open-air forum and spacious auditorium\, encouraging interaction with colleagues and sponsors while fostering global connections. \n\n\n					 Participation\n			\n			\n						\n34 Countries Represented \nFaculty and professionals from universities\, training institutions\, NGOs and organizations worldwide participated in GEM 2026. \nParticipating institutions included: \n\nMahidol University\nBaylor College of Medicine\nHong Kong Polytechnic University\nUniversity of Strathclyde\nUniversity of Jordan\nHuman Study\nInternational Committee of the Red Cross\nUniversity of Malaya\nMobility India\n\n…and many more. \n\n\n\n					 Highlights\n			\n			\n						\nDistinguished Keynote SpeakersGEM 2026 featured internationally recognized leaders from medicine\, education and prosthetics and orthotics: \nDr. Apichat AsavamongkolkulDean\, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital\, Mahidol University \nDr. Cherdsak IramaneeratDirector\, Siriraj Health Science Education Excellence Center \nChristian SchlierfFounder and CEO\, Human Study \nThese keynote speakers shared expertise spanning medical education\, learning psychology\, and global P&O education development. \nEducational Innovation\nThe scientific programme addressed topics including: \n\nArtificial intelligence in P&O education\nCompetency-based assessment\nDigital workflows\nClinical reasoning\nGamification\nStructured internships\nOral assessments\nDisability awareness\nCollaborative learning\nGlobal curriculum development\n\nPresentations reflected emerging trends and practical approaches to modern P&O education. \nEducation Research Fund\nThe ISPO Education Research Fund\, established following previous GEM meetings\, continued to support evidence-based educational research. \nAt GEM 2026\, Louise Puli presented findings from the inaugural funded project: \nExploring Mobility Assistive Product Competencies \nA second call for proposals was announced\, supported through donations and contributions from partners and supporters. \nISPO Education Accreditation\nFor the first time\, GEM included dedicated accreditation sessions for programmes interested in pursuing ISPO Education Accreditation. \nTopics included: \n\nISPO Standards\nSelf-study preparation\nOutcome-based education\nAudit visits\nTerminal competency assessment\n\nTwenty-five participants attended these sessions\, and the success of the programme paved the way for future accreditation workshops at GEM 2028 and the ISPO World Congress 2027. \nAuditor Training\nFollowing the meeting\, eleven experienced educators participated in an auditor training programme designed to strengthen ISPO’s global accreditation efforts. \n\n\n\n					 Key Outcomes\n			\n			\n						\nStrengthening Global CollaborationEducators from 34 countries exchanged ideas and built relationships to advance P&O education worldwide. \nPromoting Educational ResearchThe Education Research Fund continued to support collaborative and evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning. \nExpanding Accreditation CapacityNew accreditation information sessions and auditor training programmes strengthened quality assurance initiatives. \nEmbracing InnovationSessions explored AI\, digital workflows\, competency-based education and modern assessment strategies. \n\n\n\n					 Participant Voices\n			\n			\n						\n“Highly valuable training for the accreditation process\, along with excellent networking opportunities.” \n“Very well done as always.
