3 year trans boundary bachelor course of 180 ECTS. Students get education in a wide variety of courses such as (bio)mechanics, anatomics, physiology, orthopaedic technology, electronics, etc. Almost half of the study is spent on practical skills in the university college as well during internship in orthopaedic workshops. This represents more than 40% of the ECTS.
Specific for our educational programme is that students can choose for the option orthopaedic technology (bandages, orthoses, prostheses, wheelchairs) or shoe technology (orthopaedic shoes) after the first year. In the second and third year the practical skills and the courses in technology are adapted to these options.
During the final year students have to write and publicly defend their thesis before a jury of expert practitioners and professors of the university college. The subjects treated in these theses emphasize research related to orthopaedic technology as well as evidence based practice in the field.
