The creation of the National Member Society in Qatar was approved by the ISPO Executive Board in September 2015 .

The activities of ISPO Qatar are driven mainly by staff from the department of Prosthetics & Orthotics of Rumailah Hospital, which has a combined experience of over 32 years and is the foremost comprehensive facility of its kind in Qatar. Rumailah Hospital is a multispecialty wing of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) that provides medical, surgical and long term care for the population of Qatar.

To meet with the national vision of Hamad Medical Corporation, the department of Prosthetics & Orthotics is interested in collaborating with the International Society of Prosthetics & Orthotics by being an active member and developing an international standard of practice as advocated by ISPO.

ISPO Qatar has a five-fold strategy to improve the field of Prosthetics & Orthotics in the country, by having all professional staff recognised with ISPO membership; to be associated with International members and become aware of the latest advances in the field of P&O; to arrange courses for upgrading the staff’s knowledge with present-day international practices; to create a forum with other multidisciplinary teams on equal terms by exchanging ideas, knowledge & experiences, and lastly, to raise awareness of ISPO Qatar’s services and profession.
