#ISPOWER celebrates IDPD 2018
Tuesday 6 November 2018
On 3 December 2018, we are inviting ISPO members, partners and friends to join #ISPOWER on social media to celebrate the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) and promote the empowerment of persons with disabilities and an inclusive and equal society for all.
What is #ISPOWER?
#ISPOWER is ISPO’s call to action for improved access to Assistive Health Technology (AHT) & care to help people with impaired mobility participate fully in society. Through #ISPOWER, together we raise public and decision makers’ awareness and understanding of the importance of P&O and AHT care in helping to transform the lives of people with impaired mobility and integrate them into society.
Join us in celebrating ISPOWER on the occasion of IDPD on 3 December! This year’s theme is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”.
How Can I Get Involved?
Would you like to become our #ISPOWER Ambassador in 2019? Share with us your most inspiring picture and testimonial reflecting inclusiveness, equality and empowerment for persons with disabilities. The best picture and testimonial will be featured on ISPO’s website and social media, and will be used as #ISPOWER flagship picture for 2019, including during the ISPO World Congress 2019.
Submissions for the #ISPOWER photo contest are now closed. Vote until Thursday 29 November, at noon, for your favourite picture on bit.ly/ISPOWER_Vote. And make sure to encourage your fellow ISPO members, colleagues, contacts and friends to vote to increase your chances of winning!
Organise an activity on IDPD
Take part actively in the #ISPOWER campaign on or around 3 December and organise an activity with your school, organisation or Member Society.
Are you looking for ideas? Here are a few suggestions:
- Make a human chain with your colleagues, students and friends.
- Sports event: give people an opportunity to perform sports activities like a walk, run, bicycle ride, etc.
- Information session: present the #ISPOWER campaign at your school, university or workplace using the campaign’s PowerPoint presentation.
- More ideas here.
Download and print the campaign materials (flyers, posters, etc.).
Make sure to take pictures and ask for the participants’ feedback on the activity to share with us by using this form.
