ISPO Signs a Collaboration Agreement with the African Federation of Orthopaedic Technicians (FATO)
Thursday 31 January 2019
In November 2018, ISPO signed a collaboration agreement with the African Federation of Orthopaedic Technicians (FATO) to build synergy to ensure that an increasing number of people have access to appropriate rehabilitation, mobility devices and other assistive products and services.
For more than 25 years, FATO has been and continues to be the main active stakeholder in promoting and ensuring that an increasing number of people in Africa have access to appropriate rehabilitation and mobility devices and services.
For the first time, through this agreement, ISPO and FATO offer the possibility to apply for dual membership. With dual membership, individuals will benefit from reduced fees and several advantages such as reduced registration fees to attend both organisations' congresses, access to ISPO and FATO Journals, etc.
Since both organisations have similar objectives, it is fitting to increase their collaboration and join efforts to promote and ensure that, based on best evidence, an increasing number of people in Africa have access to appropriate rehabilitation services, including mobility devices and services. While this collaboration is primarily focused on Africa, it will also impact ISPO's objectives and activities worldwide.
