Advocacy to raise awareness of the Prosthetics & Orthotics professions and the value of access to high-quality assistive health technologies is a strategic priority of ISPO’s Executive Board.
In the period 2016-2019, ISPO is striving to increase the recognition of the Prosthetics & Orthotics and rehabilitation profession, drive policy development in the Prosthetics & Orthotics and rehabilitation field, and develop and implement Prosthetics & Orthotics standards. These goals are to be achieved through key strategic advocacy measures.
ISPO’s Advocacy Strategy
- awareness-raising activities
- targeted advocacy
- building strategic collaborations
ISPO’s objective is to create a global movement around improved access to assistive health technologies (AHT) for people with impaired mobility. To this end, ISPO provides a central platform to create a better understanding of the importance of AHT in professionals, decision-makers and the public on a local and international level. This helps to increase users’ mobility and facilitates their social inclusion.
