The Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology (FECOT) situated in Lagos (Nigeria) was established by the federal government of Nigeria in 2008 and has been training Diploma holders in Orthopaedic Technology since then in the country. This has brought about an increase in the number of professionals in the field of prosthetics and orthotics in Nigeria.
To have an ISPO member society in the country brings more development opportunities to these professionals, by enhancing interactions with the international body and enabling Nigerian professionals in the field of prosthetics and orthotics to be known at international level.
ISPO Nigeria assumes as its' main objectives to:
Represent the interest of professionals in the field of prosthetics and orthotics in the country at governmental level.
- Organize seminars and conferences to discuss and learn new developments in the rehabilitation world with ultimate goal being the quality of life of patients needing P&O services.
- Relay activities, research works ongoing in the country in the prosthetics and orthotics field to the international community.
- Be ISPO international mouthpiece to the prosthetic and orthotic community in Nigeria.
