ISPO Supports International Wheelchair Day

Each year on International Wheelchair Day, celebrated on 1 March, people around the world come together to recognize the positive impact that wheelchairs have on the lives of millions of individuals. The day also highlights the importance of accessibility, mobility, and inclusion for people who rely on wheelchairs in their daily lives.

At International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), we are proud to support this global initiative. Access to appropriate wheelchairs and mobility devices is essential for participation in education, employment, healthcare, and community life. Through our work with professionals, researchers, and partners worldwide, ISPO continues to advocate for improved access to high-quality assistive technology and rehabilitation services.

International Wheelchair Day is also an opportunity to acknowledge the work of clinicians, technicians, researchers, and organizations who dedicate their efforts to advancing wheelchair provision and improving mobility outcomes for users everywhere.

ISPO encourages our global community to take a moment to celebrate the independence, mobility, and opportunities that wheelchairs make possible, while continuing to work toward a world where everyone who needs a wheelchair has access to the right one. ♿
