Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences (PIPOS)

PIPOS(Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences) formerly known as PETCOT (Peshawar training Centre for Orthopedic Technologist) was established in 1981 under the bilateral assistance co-operation Programme between GIZ Germany and Pakistan & has transitioned into a center of excellence awarding Bachelor of Prosthetic & Orthotic sciences (Honors)Degree from Khyber Medical University.
PIPOS Training and Education Department offering 04 year BS program to its students ,comprises of 08 semesters of study .The general structure of the program has been defined by HEC with 7 compulsory courses stipulated by HEC.
During the first six semesters of the Programme a combination of general, discipline specific and major courses gradually build the previously mentioned competences of the students, with semester VII & VIII concentrating on consolidating their skills and knowledge through clinical practice. Teaching methodology will be very much students centered with an emphasis on equal and inclusive student participation. Semester I to VI will last up to 18 weeks while due to clinical and research nature of semester VII & VIII, they will last 24 weeks.
