The LEAD (Lower Extremity Amputation Dataset) and COMPASS (Consensus Outcome Measures for Prosthetic and Amputation Services) were developed by the International Society for Prosthetics and ORthotics (ISPO) to enable standardised outcome data collection for prosthetic rehabilitation services in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The need for such data is well recognised. It is the absence of outcome evidence that underlies chronic underfunding of prosthetic rehabilitation in LMICs. Yet the tools had not been tested in the clinical environments where they would need to work. This report presents the findings of a pilot study conducted across three sites in the Asia Pacific region between August and December 2025, involving 121 people with lower limb absence and clinical staff across diverse service delivery settings.
